  • How to Use

There is more than one way to use our Mumtaz Nihari Masala Spice Mix

Here’s an easy cooking tip for 7-8 shanks.

    1. Stir-fry 7-8 lamb or mutton shanks in 200g of oil over medium-high heat for 7-10 minutes in a large pot until they are lightly browned.
    2. Add 4 tablespoons of ginger & garlic paste to the pot and fry for a further 3 to 4 minutes. Then add 5 tablespoons of Mumtaz Nihari Masala Spice Mix and add salt to taste, mix well, and fry for another 2-3 minutes until the spices are slightly cooked.
    3. Add 3 litres of hot water, bring to a boil, then cover the pot with a lid, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for around 3 hours, stir occasionally, until the shanks are tender. If needed, add more water during cooking to ensure the shanks are nicely tendered.
    4. Once the shanks have reached tenderness, prepare a smooth mixture by combining 2 tablespoons of corn flour with half a glass of water. Gradually introduce this mixture to the gravy, ensuring thorough stirring. Cook over high heat for approximately 7-10 minutes until the gravy achieves a delightful thickness
    5. Continue cooking until the gravy reaches your desired consistency.
    6. Garnish the Nihari with freshly chopped coriander, fresh ginger shreds, and green chillies.
    7. Serve hot with naan or chapati, and enjoy your perfect homemade Mumtaz Nihari.

Note: Adjust the cooking time as needed to ensure the shanks are tender. You can also adjust the spice level according to your preference by adding more or less Mumtaz Nihari Masala Spice Mix.
